NEWS

12th of October
It was great to see so many of you turning up to the "surprise" solo shows this past month. Was a lot of fun for me and a nice change.

Due to unforseen circumstances, the German shows this month have been cancelled. But I should get back there in the new year (March?) to play a string of dates with the band.

"Are You Happy" taken from Days Like These has been included on an EMI "best of songwriters" compilation being released in Austria on the 8th of November. The full album should be available in Austria soon after...supported by a few shows (including an intimate Haus Der Musik concert on the 25th of October!)

Tickets are also now available to the last band show of the year!!! This is at a great new "space" (The Meet Factory) in Prague. If you want more information on tickets please write to info@jamesharries.com. It is also a celebration of one year of Kaleidoskop

30th of August
Following the (bit of March) April, May, June, July and bit of August tour of parts of Europe and the USA in support of the new record (DAYS LIKE THESE), September's going to be quiet.

BUT there will be several small unannounced solo shows (well, they are going to be announced the day before they happen on myspace and on here) and a couple of TV shows and radio sessions are planned.

For those that didn't managed to catch any of the tour some kind souls has posted several clips from 2 or 3 concerts on youtube. (there are more up there somewhere).

For those that did make it out: THANKS!

October will the see the resumption of service as normal with shows in the UK, Austria and the Czech Republic.

Following on from the March, April, May and June UK tour in support of "Days Like These" (see the
Dekkor Records / and here / pages for details of past shows and reviews etc... ) I'll be back in the UK on the 8th of July to play a small solo show at The Electro Acoustic Club in London.

If you can't make that then you can tune into BBC London Radio at midnight (UK time) on monday the 9th to catch a session of live songs and chat.

I'll be up in Hull recording another BBC session the same day for their "Raw Talent" programme to be aired at a later date (watch the concerts page for details)..... and some songs live for BBC Northern Ireland, who've A-listed the first single from the record (Ghost Town ----- out next week).

The dates for the US tour are listed in the concerts section ----- expect more solo shows to be added very soon.

Thanks to all of you who came out to the shows in Germany. We had a great time!
I'll be doing a few solo gigs in the Czech Republic in the next couple of weeks (some of which are listed in the concerts page) and then it's over to the UK for some shows. More details to follow ------- they should tie in with the record release.

This site's still having technical problems....for latest updates try myspace, Dekkor Recordsor contact info@jamesharries.com.

See you soon.

Happy new year all.

Still having problems with the forum. I've been asking for it to be looked into but so far..... I'm sorry.

The new record (Days Like These) is out in the spring on Dekkor Records in the UK. It should be out across Europe soon after. I'll keep the news on that up to date.

I've just played a couple of small shows with some friends and things should get underway properly with some dates in London at the end of the month. I've also got German, Austrian and Czech dates confirmed before the spring. Some with the (NEW) band and some solo. Looking forward to seeing you there.

I'm sorry to announce that the show in Frystak has been cancelled due to some problem at the venue. Hopefully they'll be back up and running soon so I hope to make it next time round. Sorry for letting you know so late - I've only just found out myself. Hope to see some of you somewhere else in Moravia instead.

Thanks to all of you who showed up to Cafe Slechta in Zizkov today after the Radio 1 session....it was a surprise show for me too....it was organised by Erich Seidl at Radio 1 and sprung on me (thanks).

Hello there folks. Last time round I shouldn't have had such a go at computers.....they came for revenge -  my password was mysteriously changed and the forum here's been taken over  (I haven't a clue what's going on there....I might even have to close it down).

I do have the password for the myspace page now though so feel free to take a peek (it's now in my hands). It's going to be revamped soon too apparently (not by my hand)!!

Some autumn shows have been postponed due to the birth of my cool little son but there's a Czech tour coming up and German dates have been put back to the new year (with Austria and the UK pencilled in too).

The new record was put back for the same reason and will now be out on Dekkor Records in the UK in March 2007 and elsewhere shortly after.....stay tuned for more news on that.

Sorry to keep those of you who've been after it waiting (thanks so much for the interest by the way) but I wanted to enjoy with my other "new release" first.

Hello. Sorry there's been no news here for a while....I've been on the computer too much lately and wanted a break.
I think it started with people's amazement that I didn't have a Myspace page or equivalent and their insistence that I get one (as if I'll never work again without one)....anyway now some kind soul has set one up for me. See:
www.myspace.com/jamesharriesmusic
or even
www.myspace.com/jamesharries

I've been promised the password so I might even get involved.

I think I was put off by the use of the word "friend". .... maybe it has something to do with never getting a pen-pal reply from anyone the nuns at our primary school made us write to (who were they anyway?).......
......also a while back in a club I was playing at, they were advertising "FREE INTERNET ACCESS!!" (why would that be a selling point in a club?.....I couldn't get my head round it). A group of Italian girls were sitting round one screen and a few feet away there was a group of fellas sitting round another one and as far as I could tell they were all "chatting" to members of the opposite sex ON THE COMPUTERS .......again.....I didn't get it.

But, if you want to be "my friend" and whatever that entails, feel free....

Thanks to all of you who came out to see the shows in the UK and the Czech Republic in the last couple of months. There were some pretty memorable ones for me (and for all the right reasons!). Summer is going to be taken up with mixing the new record (it's coming along and should be done soon) but there are a couple of shows planned.

The German tour that was planned for October/November has to be put on hold for personal (baby) reasons but there might be a couple of gigs in Germany squeezed in in September. Watch this space!

One other piece of news I'd like to mention is that I've been asked to be the patron of Kaleidoskop.  Please take a look at what they do (if you understand Czech).

I'm back in Europe after almost a month in the US. I was finishing the new record with producer (and all round "top geezer") Ben Yonas in Coast Recorders in San Francisco and in New York. All I'll say for now is that the booklet is going to be huge 'cos of all the people I want to thank.

Whilst I was away I also learnt that a film soundtrack CD that I contributed a couple of songs to had reached number 1 in the Czech album charts. I also learnt that there were a few problems at the printers. I co-wrote one of the songs with Stepan Smetacek (a great Czech drummer). It's called "Joe Burn's 16th rag" but (because I didn't check it?) it's called something else in the film credits and on the CD (the liner notes of which also credit someone else with ....?? I dunno. There's another name there too....)

14/3/2006
Following a forced lay off for a bust rib I'll be heading over to the US to finish off the new record (to be released in the early autumn on Dekkor Records) and to play a few shows.

Shows are planned for Poland, the Czech Republic and London in May.

14/2/2006
The Radio 1 session had to be cancelled due to a bout of food poisoning but it has been rescheduled for the 5th of March (again at 13.00 CET).

Thanks to all of you who showed up to the gigs nice to see so many people come out, and in such foul weather too! A big thanks to Dano and Sina from Longital (ex-Dlhe diely) for the concert in Bratislava. They are on tour at the moment........if you get the chance....go see 'em. you'll not regret it. See their site for details.

Shows for the Czech Republic in February have been posted. You can also tune in to hear a live session on Czech Radio 1 (www.radio1.cz) on sunday the 5th of february from 13.00.

The bones of a new record were recorded at Coast Recorders in San Francisco in January and I'll be returning to the US in March to play some more shows and finish off the album for release later in the year.......more info to follow.

Just before I went to the states I went into the studio in Prague to record 2 songs for a new Czech film due to be released the first week of March. The soundtrack should be out around the same time on Sony/BMG.

Dates in the UK, Germany and Austria to follow...........
